Frequently Asked Questions
Q. When do I call our medical director vs. Wellpath Immediate Care?
Anything that is non-911 necessary, we want to evaluate those patients. You will first want to call your medial director. Together, you will decide if Wellpath Immediate Care is the best option for next steps for that particular patient. Heart attacks, stroke patients, or trauma injuries must go to the emergency department immediately and you should follow normal protocol for those cases.
Q. Should we use Wellpath Immediate Care instead of calling the on-call provider for daily sick calls?
Yes, if the patient has a medical issue that you are worried may need to go to the Emergency Department.
Q. Is there a limit to the number of times we can use Wellpath Immediate Care?
No. You can use Wellpath Immediate Care as many times as necessary. You can even use the service multiple times for the same patient during the same case. Wellpath Immediate Care providers have access to ERMA and can look up past medical records.
Q. Who is inputting the orders into ERMA?
Wellpath Immediate Care providers will input all orders, including prescriptions and routine labs within ERMA.
Q. If patient must go to the ER, will RelyMD give the order or do we need to call the facility doctor?
It depends. If the patient meets criteria for severe illness or injury (like cardiac arrest, active labor of a pregnant woman, acute stroke, etc) and needs to go 911 to the Emergency Department, then you don’t need to contact RelyMD or your on-call provider first. If the patient is stable but you’re worried may need to go to the Emergency Department, then use telehealth Wellpath Immediate Care.
Q. If Wellpath Immediate Care doesn’t answer, should I then refer back to the on-call provider?
Wellpath Immediate Care providers always answer. Over 20 physicians are dedicated to Wellpath nurses and patients and your consults will always be prioritized. The average wait time for a virtual visit is approximately 6-minutes, we anticipate even shorter wait times for Wellpath calls.
